Privacy policy

Last updated 22 September 2026. This policy explains what LEFKO collects from drivers and passengers, why, and your rights under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles. It applies to LEFKO rides, LEFKO Delivery and shop accounts, and sits alongside our terms of service.

What we collect

All users: name, email address, mobile number, and the rides you book or complete.

Drivers: everything above, plus your Australian driver's licence, passport or photo ID, national police check, driving record, vehicle registration, pink slip, yearly vehicle photos and insurance certificate, ABN where supplied, and your bank account details for payouts.

Location: while you have accepted a trip, LEFKO Driver reads your device's location, speed and estimated arrival time so the passenger can see where you are. We do not read your location when you are not on an active trip, and we do not collect location in the background.

Couriers and shops: for LEFKO Delivery we also collect the orders you place, prepare or deliver, delivery addresses and instructions, your vehicle type, and for shops the business name, ABN, contact details and bank account for payouts.

Payments: card details are entered directly with our payment provider and are never stored on our systems. We keep a reference to the payment, the amount, the last four digits and the card brand so you can recognise your receipts and refunds. Refunds are always returned to the card you paid with.

Location tracking, in detail

  • Passengers: we use your location to set your pickup point, suggest addresses and show your trip on the map while it is running.
  • Drivers and couriers: while you are online or on an active job we record your position, speed and estimated arrival every few seconds, so the customer and our support team can follow the job and so we can investigate incidents.
  • We do not track you when you are offline and have no active job, and we never sell or advertise from location data.
  • Trip location traces are kept for 12 months for safety and dispute investigations, then deleted. The trip's start and end points stay on the tax receipt.
  • You can switch location off in your phone's settings at any time. Passengers can then still type an address; drivers and couriers cannot go online without it.

Your consent and how to change it

When you create an account you agree to this policy, our terms, and location sharing during an active job. We record the exact version of the wording you agreed to and the date. If we materially change either document we ask you to agree again.

Separate, optional choices — checks on the documents you upload, and marketing emails — are ticked on their own and can be turned off at any time by emailing support@lefko.net.au. Withdrawing document-checking consent means we can no longer keep you approved to drive or courier.

Identity and document checks

Documents drivers and couriers upload are read by our verification team and by automated text-recognition tools that pull out names, dates and licence numbers so we can check they are current and genuine. A person always makes the final approval decision, and you can ask us to review any decision by emailing support@lefko.net.au.

Why we collect it

  • To match passengers with drivers, run trips and calculate fares, tolls and the flat 20% service fee.
  • To verify that drivers are legally entitled to carry passengers.
  • To pay drivers their earnings each week.
  • To meet our obligations to state passenger transport regulators and the ATO.
  • To keep passengers and drivers safe, and to investigate incidents.

Who we share it with

  • The passenger or driver you are matched with: first name, vehicle details and live location during the trip only.
  • Our payment provider, to take payments and send payouts.
  • Our hosting and database provider, which stores data securely.
  • State transport regulators, police or insurers when required by law or to investigate an incident.
  • The shop and courier for a delivery: your name, order, delivery address and instructions.

Some of these providers store data outside Australia (including the United States and the European Union). We only use providers bound to protect your information to a standard comparable with the Australian Privacy Principles.

We never sell your information and we do not use it for advertising.

How long we keep it

Trip and payment records are kept for 7 years to meet Australian tax and transport record-keeping obligations. Verification documents are kept while you drive with LEFKO and for 7 years after your last trip. You can ask us to delete anything we are not legally required to keep.

Your rights

You can see, correct or ask us to delete your information, and you can close your account at any time, by contacting support@lefko.net.au. We respond within 30 days. If you are not satisfied you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.

Security

Data is encrypted in transit and at rest. Identity documents are stored in private storage that only you and our verification team can open. Access is logged.

Children

LEFKO is not for anyone under 18 and we do not knowingly collect information from children.
