Western Sydney Airport Is Open: Getting to WSI with LEFKO

Sydney's newest airport is officially open. Western Sydney International (Nancy-Bird Walton) Airport welcomed its first passengers on Sunday 25 October 2026, with a sold-out Jetstar flight to the Gold Coast leading the way.

A new 24-hour airport for Sydney

After around 15 years of planning, seven years of construction and a year of testing, the airport opened to passengers on 25 October, with freight flights starting from July 2026, according to the Prime Minister's office. Unlike Kingsford Smith, WSI has no curfew, so flights can run day and night.

Who is flying from WSI

  • Jetstar: the first commercial flights, including Gold Coast, Melbourne and Brisbane services\n- Qantas: domestic services\n- Air New Zealand: Auckland flights from 26 October\n- Singapore Airlines: daily Singapore flights from November 2026\n- VietJet: two weekly flights to Ho Chi Minh City\n- Fiji Airways: three weekly flights to Nadi from March 2027

Airline details are from reporting by The Guardian, ABC News and Nine. Always check your airline for the latest times.

Getting to WSI and home again with LEFKO

For families across Penrith, Liverpool, Campbelltown, Blacktown and the Blue Mountains, the new airport is much closer than Mascot. Book a LEFKO ride straight to the terminal from the app or at lefko.net.au:

  • LEFKO Go for everyday trips\n- LEFKO MAX for up to 7 people and extra luggage\n- LEFKO Van for up to 10 passengers\n- LEFKO EKO for a fully electric ride

Fares are GST-inclusive estimates, with actual tolls and airport charges added from the route travelled. Because WSI runs 24 hours, LEFKO is handy for early-morning departures and late-night arrivals.

For LEFKO drivers

A curfew-free airport means trips around the clock in Western Sydney. Keep an eye on airport pickups in the driver app and go online around busy arrival times.
