BYD revealed the second-generation Seagull in China on 20 October 2026. In Australia the current model is sold as the BYD Atto 1, our cheapest EV at $19,990 driveaway for the Essential.
What's new
- Five seats and rear-wheel drive
- 4,205 mm long, 215 mm longer than today's Australian Atto 1
- 30.1 kWh (320 km CLTC) or 39.2 kWh (420 km CLTC) batteries
- The larger battery supports Flash Charging: 10–70% in about five minutes
- A 94-litre front boot and optional LiDAR-based driver assistance
Price in China
From ¥65,900 to ¥99,900 across five grades, roughly A$13,800 to A$21,000 as a straight currency conversion. That is not an Australian price.
Coming to Australia?
BYD Australia has not confirmed if or when the new model will arrive, or in what specification. For drivers, a bigger five-seat Atto 1 with fast charging would be a strong low-cost rideshare option if it lands here.
