Denza, the premium brand owned by BYD, has opened reservations in China for its revamped N8 SUV. The big news: it is now a fully electric 5-seater with a claimed range of up to 1,003 km, and it officially launches in November 2026.
What's new
The N8 name is back with a very different car. The original N8 arrived in 2023 as a 6- and 7-seat plug-in hybrid but was dropped within a year after slow sales. This new version swaps three rows for two, giving every passenger more room.
- Up to 1,003 km of electric range (Chinese test cycle)
- BYD's second-generation Blade Battery with flash charging
- Battery options of about 106 kWh and 130 kWh
- 1,046 litres of boot space and sliding rear seats
- Length 5,150 mm, wheelbase 3,075 mm — 50 mm shorter than the 6-seat N8L
Inside the cabin
Each row has two "zero-gravity" reclining seats. Up front there is a 30-inch central touchscreen plus a 1.1-metre-wide display under the windscreen that shows speed and navigation. It also gets BYD's God's Eye 5.0 driver assistance, air suspension and rear-wheel steering for tight turns.
Power options
Buyers can choose single-motor rear-wheel drive (320 kW or 370 kW) or a tri-motor all-wheel-drive version making a huge 890 kW combined, which can even spin on the spot. A plug-in hybrid version is expected later. Pricing hasn't been announced yet; a 2,000 yuan deposit currently earns a 5,000 yuan options credit.

What it means for rideshare drivers
Denza already sells in Australia, but there's no word yet on the N8 coming here. If it does, a quiet, roomy electric SUV with 1,000 km of range could suit premium rideshare work — fewer charging stops and very comfortable back seats. Electric cars can qualify for LEFKO EKO, and LEFKO drivers keep 80% of every fare. New riders get a $30 welcome credit at lefko.net.au.
